Blepharoplasty: A Solution to Heavy, Baggy Eyes
Blepharoplasty is an eyelid surgery often referred to as an eyelid lift. This medical procedure significantly reduces bagginess from the lower eyelids and removes excess skin from the upper eyelids which can cause eyelids to droop downward. As a cosmetic procedure, blepharoplasty improves the overall appearance of the face and eyes.
We see many patients who make the mistake of spending hundreds, even thousands of dollars on creams and gels in hopes of fixing or preventing baggy eyelids, only to find the results are short lived at best. Dr. Massaro is a medical doctor who specializes in cosmetic surgery which actually delivers results, as opposed to the disappointment patients typically experience before coming to our clinic. Improve Your Appearance with Blepharoplasty
Blepharoplasty is a surgical correction of eyelid disfiguration and imperfection. The procedure involves strategically removing, or repositioning, excess fat and skin tissue around the eye. The surgery is typically performed on the area extending from the upper eyebrow to the upper portion of the cheek. This includes the tissues around the eyebrows, the upper nasal-bridge area and the upper portion of the cheeks. Blepharoplasty restores the muscle’s ability to withhold the original structure around the eye and smooths the skin from the lower eyelid down through the cheek.

The Face of Eyelid Surgery
Eyelid surgery modifies the periosteal coverings of the facial bones forming around the orbital socket. The periosteum comprises two-layer connective tissues which cover the bones of the human body: the external layer consists of dense, connective tissues with blood vessels; the internal is a deep layer of collagenous bundles composed of spindle-shaped cells of connective tissue and a network of thin, elastic fibers. These fibers tend to lose elasticity with age. In others, blepharoplasty may correct single eyelids (monolids) into double eyelids.
If you are in good health and don’t have unrealistic expectations, blepharoplasty is a surgery to consider. The typical age of patients at our Milwaukee cosmetic eye surgery clinic is 35 years and up, but we also treat younger patients with congenital eye problems.
